MONTANA YOUTH TRAVELING LEAGUE
2011/12 Season
The following is a general format of the Montana Youth Traveling League. Any changes or alterations in the format of this league will require a meeting at the end of each season for changes to go into effect the following season. 
The league will be sanctioned. All USBC Youth rules and code of ethics will apply.
The league secretary is Crystal Martinich
The league will have two divisions:
Juniors - 14 years old and under as of August 1, 2011
Majors - 15 to 20 years old as of August 1, 2011
The league is a scratch singles league consisting of boys and girls competing in the same division
The league schedule will consist of seven (7) regular stops and one finals stop for a total of eight (8) stops.
Cost for each regular stop will be $20.00 (lineage is $2.05 per game with remaining funds after expenses being placed in the scholarship fund).
Cost for the Finals will be $25.00 due to the additionals games at this stop.
Each bowling center that holds a stop will pay a $25.00 sponsor fee, which will be used for a special scholarship fund to be awarded to the highest female finisher in each division at the finals.
STARTING TIME:
Check-in is no later than 9:00 a.m. Warm-up begins at 9:15 a.m. and competition begins at 9:30 a.m.
BOWLER ATTITUDE:
This league is a prestigious league where young athletes come to have a good time, practice good sportsmanship, and bowl their best. However, any misconduct be a bowler (i.e., foul language, obscene gestures, abuse to equipment, etc.) will be deemed a fist offense and a warning will be issued. Second offense the bowler will be suspended from the league for the next two (2) stops. When the bowler returns to bowl and a third offense occurs, the bowler will be suspended from the league permanently. Warnings are carried for the entire season. The warnings may be issued by league officials or by bowling center management.
FORMAT:
Match Play. Players shall bowl six (6) games in three (3) two-game blocks for the seven (7) regular stops. For the first block only, players shall be seeded according to average (high average bowling second high average etc.) For blocks two and three, position according to total score earned shall determine seeding (high scorer bowls second high scorer, etc.) The Finals stop will consist of eight (8) games with four (4) two-game blocks. Each bowler will accumulate their total pins knocked down and 30 bonus pins will be awarded to the bowlers score for each win against an opponent. In case of a tie, each bowler will receive 15 bonus pins. Accumulated pins will carry over from one set to the next. During regular stops, after the third 2-game block has been completed and position standings calculated, the top 5 finalists in both divisions will bowl the step-ladder finals to determine the winners for that stop. During the Finals stop, the top 5 finalists in both divisions will be determined after a fourth two-game block. In case of ties for any of the top finishers and ties during any stepladder, a 9th and 10th frame roll-off will determine the winner.
The Finals stop will be considered the League Championships where scholarship money will be awarded. To be eligible to bowl the Finals stop, you must bowl at least four (4) of the seven (7) Regular stops.
AVERAGE: 
First stop averages will be determined using last year’s traveling league average. If no traveling league average from last year, current league average of 9 or more games will be used. If you do not have a verified average you will be seeded first. Thereafter, you will use your established traveling league average.
AWARDS: 
A total of 14 certificates will be awarded at each stop (high game, high series, and one for each of the top finalists in each division).
SCHOLARSHIPS:
A scholarship fund will be established in each division. At the league championships during the Finals stop, the top five (5) finishers in each division will receive a scholarship awards, with the first place finisher in each division receiving a scholarship of at least $300. A minimum of $100 scholarship will be awarded to the top girl finisher in each division at the finals.
****REMINDER**** You are only eligible to bowl the Finals stop only if you have bowled at least four (4) of the seven (7) Regular stops.
At each Regular stop, you have the opportunity to compete for a $50 scholarship in your division. If there are not enough entries in a division to cover the scholarship, any monies received will be returned and the scholarship will not be awarded unless a lesser amount is agreed to by the participants. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, you must enter by paying a $4.00 entry fee, and you must be the top finisher in your division.
BOWLER RESPONSIBILITY:
Check-in by 9:00 a.m.
Competition begins at 9:30 a.m.
LATECOMERS ARRIVING AFTER THE LINE-UP HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BOWL.
IT WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH BOWLER TO WRITE DOWN HIS/HER OWN SCORES. DO NOT DEPEND ON SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT.
